The iconic Crayola 64 Box of Crayons, which debuted in 1958, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and Crayola threw a party to celebrate that milestone earlier this week at Toys R Us, Times Square in New York City.

The colorful celebration included a giant cake replica of the 64 box, created by celebrity chef Duff Goldman from Food Network's "Ace of Cakes" and the unveiling of eight new Kid's Choice Colors. Crayola invited kids to participate in an online survey to help select and name a collection of hot hues for 2008. the chosen colors and names reflect today's kids values and include Best Friends (purple), Giving Tree (green), Famous (magenta), and Super Happy (yellow). Look for these and the rest of the new colors in the new 50th Anniversary 64 Box.
